The curriculum is planned as a whole, with the aim of providing a broad, balanced and relevant program of study for all. Our school follows a cross-curricular approach that creates a hybrid of the Nigerian and British Curriculums of National and International Examinations.


At Hendon College, we run a STEAM curriculum which encompasses the following Key Stages (KS):

The KS 3 states their Cambridge Checkpoint and National Examination Council’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Programs from their year 7. The subjects listed here are as follow:

Cambridge checkpoint: English Language, Mathematics and Science.

BECE: English Language, Mathematics, Basic Science and Technology, national Values Education, Pre Vocational Studies, Religious Studies, Cultural and Creative Arts, French Language, Nigerian Language and business Studies Civic Education and Security Education.

In year 9, our students choose subjects they wish to study at Key Stage 4 (Senior Secondary School). A good measure of guidance and counselling is given to the students in order to help them make their choices. Parents are also involved in this process.

At the KS 4 the mix of subjects for both International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the National Examination Council’s Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (NECO SSCE) the subjects offered are as listed above.

In order to keep step with qualities found in first-class International Schools all over the world we also offer tuition for the following International Examinations:

  • - International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
  • - Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
  • - Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and
  • - Our Own Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination, (UTME)
